Introduction

The Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDG Goals), also called Global Goals are a result of the universal call of 193 countries of the UN General Assembly. On 25th December 2015, all these countries adopted the 2030 development agenda titled Transforming our World: 2030 Development Agenda for Sustainable Development. There are 17 Sustainable Developmental Goals listed which aim at ending poverty, reducing economic inequality, protecting the environment, and ensuring justice and peace for all.

United Nations 17 Sustainable Goals

1. End Poverty: The first goal of the United Nations SDG goals aims at eradicating extreme poverty for all people from everywhere by 2030 and ensuring that they have equal rights to economic resources.
2. Zero Hunger: The second SDG Goal aims at ending hunger, improving nutrition, achieving food security, and ensuring sustainable food production systems by 2030.
3. Good Health and Well-Being: It aims at ending epidemics of diseases like malaria, aids, etc., achieving universal health coverage, ensuring healthy lives, and promoting well-being for all ages by 2030.
4. Quality Education: The fourth SDG Goal is to ensure all boys and girls receive completely free, equitable, and quality primary and secondary education and ensure that the learners acquire skills and knowledge that are required to promote sustainable development by 2030.
5. Gender Equality: It aims to achieve gender equality, women empowerment, and end all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls in all spheres.
6. Clean Water and Sanitation: The sixth SDG Goal is to ensure sustainable management and availability of clean water and sanitization for all, improve the quality of water by minimizing the release of hazardous chemicals, reducing water pollution.
7. Affordable and Clean Energy: This SDG Goal aims to ensure access to sustainable, reliable, modern, and affordable energy for all by 2030.
8. Decent Work and Economic Growth: It aims to provide sustainable and inclusive economic growth for all the countries, promote development-oriented policies and work towards forced labour, slavery, and human trafficking.
9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: The ninth SDG Goal aims at building resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable and inclusive industrialization, and fostering innovation by 2030.

10. Reduced Inequality: It aims to reduce inequality among countries, encourage official development assistance to least developed countries implement well-managed migration policies to facilitate safe, orderly, and responsible migration.

14. Life Below Water: It aims at using seas, oceans, and marine resources conservatively and sustainably, reducing marine pollution and ocean acidification, protect and restoring ecosystems with sustainable fishing.
15. Life on land: This SDG Goal aims to restore, protect and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, halt biodiversity loss, combat desertification, and take urgent action to stop the trafficking and poaching of protected species

16. Strong Institutions for peace and justice: It aims at promoting sustainable and peaceful societies for sustainable development. It also aims at providing access to justice for all.
17. Partnerships to achieve the goal: It aims at revitalizing the global partnership and strengthening the means of implementation for sustainable development.

Conclusion

The United Nations SDG Goals cover almost every aspect of human life. They are also different from earlier Millennium Development Goals in principle which states ‘leaving no one behind’ and does not distinguish between developed and developing nations. These 17 SDG Goals have 163 targets. The life and living standards of poor people, the forest cover, the ecosystem, in all, our Mother Earth will improve to a greater length if these SDG Goals are completed within the mentioned time frame.
