The Story of Sukanya and Sage Chyavana

Introduction In Sanatan Scriptures, Sukanya was the daughter of King Sharyati, son of Vaivasvata Manu, and later became the wife of the great sage Chyavana. The sage had spent so many years in deep meditation that his body was covered by an anthill and a bird’s nest had formed over him. One day, the young and curious Sukanya noticed two shining objects inside the nest. Unaware that they were the sage’s eyes, she playfully poked at them, causing him to lose his sight. Enraged by this act, Chyavana cursed the kingdom, but Sukanya’s father pacified him by offering his daughter’s hand in marriage. Despite Chyavana’s old age and blindness, Sukanya accepted her role as his wife and devotedly cared for him with cheerfulness and loyalty. One day, the celestial physicians of the gods, the Ashwini Kumaras—twin brothers renowned for their beauty and healing powers—saw Sukanya and were struck by her radiant charm. Believing her beauty was better suited for heaven, they asked her to abandon her hus...

Scarcity Mindset vs Abundance Mindset

Introduction Mind is the most powerful tool and your Mindset is the most important component of your success in life. In a study by Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, the mindset of young students was examined in which she found that children with a growth mindset who believed that intelligence can be developed were able to overcome academic challenges better than those with a fixed mindset that the intelligence of a person is predetermined. Habit 6: Synergize

Introduction Habit six of Stephen R Covey’s seven habits of highly effective people is “Synergize”. Covey says that it is always better to work in synergy with others. When we give a conducive environment to others where they can also express their feelings, we can get the best solution to any big problem. Successful leaders use the power of synergy by merging multiple forces like people, companies, etc. This concept can be understood with the help of one practical example. Let us assume that Company A is an expert in manufacturing the motorcycles but lacks logistical skills but Company B has a super-efficient logistical system. Here Company A and Company B can synergize their expertise to serve the customer in the shortest possible time. Synergy will help these companies to multiply their revenue while decreasing the expenses, which is not possible if they work separately. Habit 6: Synergize There are multiple steps by which we can synergize with others: 1. Give a thought to the Opini...

The 7 Habits: Habit 2: Begin With the End In Mind

Introduction The Habit 2 of Stephen R. Covey’s ‘ The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People " is "Begin with the end in mind". This habit can be understood with a very simple example of destination. We must have a clear cut idea of our destination during any travel as what will be the purpose of travelling if there is no clarity of destination. We can plan to reach faster to our destination only when we have clarity. Hence beginning with the end in mind refers to starting things off with clear cut idea of final destination so that best possible tactics can be applied to catalyse our success. This habit also helps us to clearly visualise our goals which eventually increases the chances of our success. Stephen Covey said that things are created twice, the first is when our mind built its mental picture and second time in our physical reality. Begin with the End in Mind is a best method to visualise our goal before it become reality. Step by Step Process This habit of starting...
