The Story of Sukanya and Sage Chyavana

Introduction In Sanatan Scriptures, Sukanya was the daughter of King Sharyati, son of Vaivasvata Manu, and later became the wife of the great sage Chyavana. The sage had spent so many years in deep meditation that his body was covered by an anthill and a bird’s nest had formed over him. One day, the young and curious Sukanya noticed two shining objects inside the nest. Unaware that they were the sage’s eyes, she playfully poked at them, causing him to lose his sight. Enraged by this act, Chyavana cursed the kingdom, but Sukanya’s father pacified him by offering his daughter’s hand in marriage. Despite Chyavana’s old age and blindness, Sukanya accepted her role as his wife and devotedly cared for him with cheerfulness and loyalty. One day, the celestial physicians of the gods, the Ashwini Kumaras—twin brothers renowned for their beauty and healing powers—saw Sukanya and were struck by her radiant charm. Believing her beauty was better suited for heaven, they asked her to abandon her hus...

Saudia Flight 163 was a flight that used to regularly fly between Karachi to Jeddah. 19 Aug 1980 was a normal day for that flight and pilots completed the first leg of the journey at Riyadh. In the second leg, the flight had to start from Riyadh and it started normally. Soon after takeoff, pilots observed the smoke in the compartment and decided to go back to Riyadh for an emergency landing. The flight with 287 passengers and 14 crew onboard landed successfully at Riyadh Airport. But all of the passengers and crew died just because of smoke even after taking successful emergency landing. The Power of Positive Thinking (Part 1)

Positive thinking is not just a matter of thinking but its a matter of perceiving and its a matter of responding to external stimuli. Two people looking out from the same window and one sees the star and others see the mud. When two people look like this then it shows the focus of their vision, energy level, and motivation. One who looks at the sky may dream, aspire and utilize his creative energy to achieve his goals but on the other hand, a person that looks at the mud might be thinking why bad things happened with me and this world is worthless. Our vision and disposition are symbiotic. What we see that shapes how we think and how we think shapes what we see. Let us understand the importance of positive thinking with the help of a short story: A very famous shoe company sent two salesmen to Africa to determine the market potential for their products. One of the salesmen was sent to the North of Africa, while the other salesman was sent to the south of Africa. Both of the s...

Many years ago there lived a king who was not satisfied with his luxurious lifestyle. He was not able to understand the purpose of life. He sometimes becomes very angry and wanted to end his life also. One day while he was roaming around his big castle he listened to a very loud song. He followed the song and came to know that one of his Laundrymen was singing this song. There was a joy in a song of this laundryman. This fascinated the King; why was he, the Supreme Ruler of the Land, unhappy and gloomy, while a lowly servant had so much joy. The King asked the laundry man, “Why are you so happy?” The man replied, "Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my family and I don't need too much - just a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummies." I don't want anything else. King listened to the answer and left the place. But he was not satisfied with the answer. King asked the question from one of his wisest advisers. After hearing the King’s woes ...

Go through life or grow through life

Eric Butterworth once said, "Don’t go through life, grow through life". Life long learning is a very important thing. Learning from our mistakes and becoming a better person day by day is very essential. The most hardworking 7 letter word is "Success". To get success we need tremendous hard work, tremendous consistency and tremendous patience. We can learn from the birth of baby Giraffe. When a baby giraffe born, mother Giraffe position herself just on top of him and give him a hard kick. A baby Giraffe who just came into the world not able to understand what's happening but while he is thinking what's happening mother Giraffe gives him another hard kick. He then understands that if he will not stand then this sequence of kicks will continue. So he stands up and while he tries to get up he gets another kick so he starts running and then mother Giraffe come to him and start loving him. This happens because mother giraffe knows that baby giraffe'...
