Introduction The story of Nachiketa from the Katha Upanishad is one of the most profound lessons in focus, sincerity, and determination. Though deeply spiritual, its relevance extends far beyond — offering timeless wisdom for leaders, professionals, and anyone navigating today’s fast-paced corporate world. Nachiketa was a young boy whose father once undertook a yagna (sacred ritual) where everything one owned was to be given away in charity for spiritual merit. But instead of giving away his best possessions, Nachiketa’s father chose only the old and useless things. The boy, though only five years old, recognized the lack of integrity in his father’s actions. Courageously, he questioned his father: "If you truly vowed to give away everything, why are you keeping the valuable possessions back? Whom will you give me to?" Irritated, his father angrily retorted: “I give you to Yama, the Lord of Death.” Taking this seriously, Nachiketa set out to meet Yama. When he arrived, Yama ...
Someone may be unmarried now, someone else may marry now and wait for 10 years to have a baby and yet another may get a baby within one year of marriage.
Someone may become CEO at the age of 17 and die at 40 and another one becomes CEO at the age of 69 and may live until 90.
If you will look around, then you will find that many people are ahead of you and many are behind you. Everyone is running at his own pace hence we must not get jealous of other's success and yet not become complacent if we find many people behind us.
Also, remember that Obama got retired at 55 and Trump resumed office at the age of 70. Hold on and be strong, all things shall work together for you and please understand that you are running at your own pace. Just try to improve day by day.
I had read somewhere, at the age of 19 we wonder what others think about us. At the age of 39, we do not bother about what others think about us and at the age of 59, we realize that actually, nobody used to think about us. It's really amusing that we used to purchase many things we don't want from the money we haven't earned to impress people we don't like. People always try to mold us according to them but we must be ourselves in every situation. We must also understand that if we will change after the feedback of everyone then everyone will be happy except us. We must also learn to say "NO" in certain circumstances otherwise our life will become miserable. They will be happy if we will not succeed in our life and remain unpromoted but if they will see that we are becoming successful then they will say that we are succeeding due to our acquaintances, this fact is true even for our very close friends. Here we must remember a plot from The Movie "3 idiots" where Raju Rastogi and Farhan Qureshi were disappointed not because they were at last position in the class but because their friend Ranchod Das Chanchad became a topper of the class.
Above mentioned points can be summarized in a story of Donkey. There was a donkey whose owner was a man and his son. One day that man decided to go to another village with his son and donkey. He was sitting on a donkey and son was walking. Another person came by and said how shameful you are, your son is walking and you are just sitting. And Immediately man started walking and told his son to sit on the donkey. After 2 hours another person came and said how shameful is this son, his father is walking and he is just enjoying it. Then both of them sat on the donkey and after some time another person came and told: "are you stone-hearted ?" See the condition of this donkey. Now both of them started walking and when they were about to reach the destination then someone came and said: " are you both stupid ?" This will be our situation when we will listen to the feedback of everyone and our life will become miserable.
