Book Review: How to Journal for Beginners by Robert Ransom What sets this book apart is its gentle encouragement. Ransom speaks directly to beginners, addressing the fears and doubts that often hold people back. He dismantles the myth that journaling is only for those with artistic talent or profound thoughts, reminding readers that every word they write has value. His message is simple but powerful: journaling isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being authentic. Ransom’s approach is refreshingly practical. He does...
Once upon a time, there was a village where villagers used to live with peace and harmony. One giant monster used to come at the gate of the village on every full moon night and used to challenge the villagers. He used to tell them that they must give him their gold ornaments and food to him or they must send their bravest person to fight with him otherwise, he will kill all of the villagers. Just because of the fiery personality of that monster no one came forward to fight the monster. This thing continued for several years. Many times few of the brave villagers tried to challenge the monster but they stepped back after listening to the menacing voice and personality of the monster. As the full moon night start approaching, villagers start shivering just because of fear of the monster.
One day a new person visited the village and some of the villagers apprised him about the grave problem. This new person decided to challenge the monster despite his frightful personality. On the next full moon night when the monster came again and challenged the villagers, this new person came forward to challenge him. The monster was standing far away and it seems that his height was about 20 feet. But this young person decided to approach the monster and when he covered about half of the kilometer then his height seems to be about only 10 feet. As the person continued further, he found that the monster was just a dwarf and he was only 3 feet. He was actually standing on a rock. The young boy took out his sword and killed the dwarf.
Many times we make our little problems so big that they take a shape of big problems. Let us understand this thing with one example of a tiny stone. When we place that tiny stone in front of our eyes then it will block our vision. Just because of that stone we will be unable to see other things. Similarly many times we used to focus on small issues and those issues waste our productive time.
When we understand the mechanism of fear then we will observe that we always fear for either past or future. We always fear of non-existent things. There is always a fear of future like what will happen to me, my business will sustain or not, my boss does not like me, etc. Fear of the past also haunts us like I had taken the wrong decisions in the past. All these sufferings are just because we are not living in reality. We play between the memory of the past or the imagination of the future. The memory of the past is also a kind of imagination. So if we control our imagination and live in reality then our life can become more joyful. See our other very interesting topic on "Why failures are important?".
