Introduction In the fast-paced world of careers, targets, and ambitions, it’s easy to believe that success is defined by what we achieve professionally. Job titles, salaries, promotions, and recognition often become the markers we chase relentlessly. We measure progress through numbers, compare ourselves through positions, and validate our worth through external achievements. But there is a quiet truth that many realize only much later in life—none of these things stay. One day, your job title will be replaced. Your inbox will reset. Your calendar will move on without you. The work that once felt urgent will become irrelevant, and the world will continue at its own pace. This realization is not meant to discourage ambition. It is meant to redirect it toward something more lasting—something that does not disappear with time or transition. There was one lumberjack who used to work for a very reputable wood company. He spent almost one decade in that company while dedicatedly giving his best. One day a new lumberjack came to his company and also started working with him. The first lumberjack observed this new person and found that both lumberjacks used to put the same amount of effort in their day to day work still this new person used to get double output. In just a span of one year, the new lumberjack got a promotion and special appreciation from the board directors.
Old lumberjack became so much frustrated that he decided to argue with his boss as he thought that it's not fair but then he decided to ask this new person about his secret sauce. Then the second lumberjack answered that I used to sharpen my hatchet for 5 minutes "do you sharpen your hatchet daily? Similarly, we used to forget to update our skills with time. Jobs that are in demand today may become obsolete in the near future and hence we must spend our time and resources to upgrade our current skill level.
There is an importance of spending some time in solitude for the betterment of our life. In solitude, we used to think about the mistakes done by us throughout the day and we can probably find out the possible rectification method or maybe we will remember it for our whole life and do not repeat such mistakes in the future. There is an analogy pertaining to this solitude method that when milk gets mixed with water then it accepts the water. Water used to engulf it and hence decreases its quality. But when milk remains separate from the water and over the time it becomes a thick curd which in turn becomes a Desi Ghee. Now, this ghee challenges the power of water and can never get blended with water. This is the power of solitude.
We used to visit the gym for our best physical health but many times we used to ignore our mental health. Mental health must also be given prime importance. As we can see in recent times many Bollywood and Hollywood stars have committed suicide even after achieving so much success and good health. There is also a saying that our mind is the greatest servant but the worst master hence mind must be treated as a servant. By doing meditation our mind can be controlled very easily and do not forget to take out time for solitude.
Hope this will help.
