Book Review: AI for Absolute Beginners by Anne Hansen

Introduction Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most talked-about technologies of our time. Yet, for many people, AI still feels intimidating, overly technical, or simply too complicated to understand. AI for Absolute Beginners by Anne Hansen successfully bridges this gap by transforming a complex subject into an approachable learning experience designed for everyday people rather than technology experts.  Unlike many AI books that focus heavily on programming concepts or advanced technical discussions, Hansen takes a refreshingly practical approach. She assumes no prior knowledge and patiently walks readers through the fundamentals before gradually introducing real-world applications. The result is a book that feels more like learning from an encouraging mentor than reading a technical manual. One of the book's greatest strengths is its central philosophy: you don't need to become an AI expert—you simply need to learn how to use AI effectively. This mindset remov...

Agastya and the Vindhya Mountains: A Lesson in Influence and Leadership

Agastya and the Vindhya Mountains: A Lesson in Influence and Leadership
Introduction

Long ago, the Vindhya mountains began growing taller and taller every day. They became so huge that they even threatened to overshadow the mighty Himalayas and block the sun’s path across the sky. The cosmic gods grew worried. If the mountains kept growing, they could disrupt the balance of the entire universe.

But the gods couldn’t stop them. The Vindhyas refused to listen to anyone. They wouldn’t bow to authority or accept any requests; they simply kept rising, proud and powerful.

Now, the one person the Vindhyas deeply respected was their guru, the sage Agastya. He was their teacher and held in high reverence. So, the gods turned to Agastya and asked for his help.

Agastya visited the mountains. The moment the Vindhyas saw him, they humbly bowed down to greet him, full of admiration.

Agastya smiled and said, “I’m so pleased with your respect and devotion.”

The mountains replied, “We are honored by your presence. Please tell us how we can serve you.”

Agastya said, “There’s nothing I need, just one small request. I’m going on a long pilgrimage. As a token of your love, please stay bowed until I return.”

The mountains agreed instantly.

Agastya set off on his journey and never came back. Since that day, the Vindhya range has remained humbled and bowed.

Influence Is Greater Than Authority

True leadership isn’t about enforcing rules or asserting control. It's about influence, respect, and emotional intelligence.

● The gods, despite their power, couldn’t stop the Vindhyas from growing. But Agastya — with no command or force — simply inspired obedience through respect and trust.

● In organizations, a leader who is trusted and admired can achieve far more than one who relies solely on authority.

● Instead of confronting resistance with pressure, great leaders find the key to influence through relationships, empathy, and understanding.

Takeaway for Professionals:

When your team, peers, or stakeholders aren't responding to control, try what Agastya did — lead with trust, build mutual respect, and use your influence to guide behavior. That’s when true and lasting change happens.

Why Greek Athletes Imagined Losing Before They Won

Introduction Fear has stopped more dreams than failure ever has. Many people believe they struggle because they lack talent, resources, intelligence, or opportunity. In reality, the biggest obstacle is often much simpler: fear. Fear of failure. Fear of rejection. Fear of embarrassment. Fear of not being good enough. These fears silently influence decisions every day. They prevent people from speaking up in meetings, starting businesses, applying for promotions, pursuing relationships, or taking risks that could transform their lives. What is fascinating is that thousands of years ago, long before psychology textbooks and neuroscience laboratories existed, ancient Greek athletes had already discovered a powerful method for dealing with fear. Instead of trying to avoid failure, they mentally embraced it. This practice, known as prokatalepsis , was a form of mental preparation that helped athletes free themselves from the emotional grip of fear and perform at their highest level. Today, m...
