Introduction

Sahabzade Irrfan Ali Khan or Irrfan Khan was one of the most talented actors in the world. He was born on 7 January 1967 in Jaipur Rajasthan. He got a special interest in acting when he saw an acting performance of Naseeruddin Shah. He took guidance from Khurram, a local theatre actor of Jaipur. He suggested him to apply for a prestigious course at the National School of Drama (NSD). He saw multiple Ups and downs in his acting career. He also got several Hollywood movies in his career. Unfortunately, he came to know about his Cancer in 2018. He underwent multiple surgeries and chemotherapies in the UK but cancer took him away on 29 Apr 2020. Irrfan was awarded Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honor in 2011.

Childhood and Early Life

Irrfan Khan's mother and father were from the Khajuriya Village of Rajasthan. His father used to run a tire business. Irrfan had a special interest in acting and he was deeply inspired by the acting of Naseeruddin shah. He was also an expert cricketer and got selected for CK Nayudu Cricket Tournament. He completed an MA in Jaipur and later Joined the National School of Drama (NSD). He was one of the few actors who got selected in the very first interview of NSD. Very big actors like Manoj Vajpayee were unable to join NSD even after 3 interviews. These achievements are great attributes of his immense talent.

Struggles

Khan made his debut from a very small role in Bollywood film " Salaam Bombay (1988)". After this, he struggled a lot while working on numerous Television serials. In the 1990s, he got several roles in films like "Such a long journey", "Ek Doctor ki Maut" and several other movies but all his hard-work had gone unnoticed. Some of his Television series were Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, Sara Jahan Hamara, Banegi Apni Baat, Chandrakanta, Shrikant, AnooGoonj, Laal Ghaas Par Neele Ghode, Darr, etc. He accepted that his life became boring when he had done multiple TV serials as he was not getting a chance to work in big movies at those times.

Success

His life changed when a London based director Asif Kapadia gave him a lead role in "The Warrior". A historical film that was completed in just less than 12 months. In 2001, this film was featured in international film festivals and provided much-awaited fame to this versatile actor. In 2004, he got a role in Ashvin Kumar's short film "Road to Ladakh". This film again got excellent reviews from international critics. After these movies, he got some of the major projects of his life like Maqbool, Reg, Haasil, Sainikudu (Telugu film), The Namesake, Life in a... Metro, Paan Singh Tomar, etc. We also saw him in Hollywood Films like The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Life of Pi (2012), Jurassic World (2015), and Inferno (2016).

Conclusion

His life played with him whenever he thought that now success is very near but Irrfan faced those challenges with a smiling face. In one of the interviews, he said, "It's very easy to say that when life gives you lemon then make lemonade but in actual life, it's too difficult and I am trying my best". His award list is also very long. Some of his awards are Best Actor in a Negative Role (Filmfare Awards), Best Supporting Actor (Filmfare Awards), Padma Shri, Best Actor (National Film Awards), Best Actor, and Best actor critics (Filmfare Awards). Today we know that he is not with us but we will miss you "Irrfan Bhai"
