Introduction

We all know and believe that honesty and truthfulness always in the end. Our truthfulness can help us to get the ultimate success in the long run. Many times we see that people who are doing less hard work or speaking lies are getting good results but always remember that your hard work will never get wasted. If we will study the life of any legend like Michael Jordan, Jack Ma, or Elon Musk then we might come to know that they also faced multiple hardships and challenges but they always tried until success came to them. Today we will understand the importance of truthfulness and honesty with the help of the CEO story.

CEO's Dilemma

This story is about a very successful CEO who served his organization with the utmost diligence. He wants to select a suitable candidate who can become the next CEO. He was in stress due to this tension. After thinking and contemplating, he decided not to select his son/daughter or any other director as the next CEO. He came up with an amazing idea and ordered all of his young executives to meet him the next day. He met with all young executives in a meeting hall and announced that he will select his successor from this pool of young executives. All of them became amazed and started murmuring with each other. CEO further explained that he is giving seed to each of the executives. He said, "this is a very special seed and I want that all of you must plant this seed and after 1 year, the person with the best plant will win the competition". The winner of the competition will be the next CEO of the company. 
Rohan was also one of the young executives of the company. Later that day, he explained everything to his wife. He and his wife planted the seed in a pot. Rohan started giving water to the pot daily and hoped for a very healthy plant. One month had past but he saw nothing in the pot. Now Rohan started becoming restless and full of depression. Six months have passed and there was no sign of a plant in that pot. In-office, everyone started talking about their growing plants and many plants were also on the verge of becoming trees. Rohan started thinking that he might have given extra water to the seed and that's why his seed was not developed into the plant.

Result of a competition

As promised, the CEO called a meeting with all young executives to inspect their plants but Rohan's pot was still empty. Rohan told his wife that he will not attend the meeting as his chances are anyways equal to zero. His wife consoled him and explained that he has given his best and must attend the meeting. The next day, all young executives gathered together in a meeting room with their flourishing plants. Many young executives were also present with the photograph of their trees but Rohan was standing alone with his empty pot. After a few minutes, the CEO entered the meeting room and appreciated the efforts of the young executives. CEO asked Rohan about his seed and told him to come in front. Rohan got puzzled and started thinking that he is about to lose his job as he is the only person who lost this competition. Rohan answered that he cared for the seed and provided water and manure on regular intervals but something went wrong and his seed never flourished. CEO asked all executives to sit down except Rohan.

Conclusion

Shortly, the CEO announced that Rohan will be the next CEO of the company. All executives started talking among themselves. They said, "this is not fair as all of them cared for their plants and Rohan was a failure". CEO answered, " one year back, he had provided boiled seeds to everyone, and it is not possible to get the plant out of such seeds". Rohan was the only person who had the courage to accept his failure. He is an honest person who can manage this company very well. Similarly, many times in our life we face tough challenges but we have to remember that shortcuts can never get us the ultimate success.
